Contour lines– Lines creating boundaries that separate one area from another. These lines define edges and surface ridges of objects and figures
Cross contour lines – A technique of drawing that takes the line that you are creating across the contours of the form, crossing over both horizontally and vertically
Shading – A method used to introduce degrees of darkness into a drawing or painting in order to render light and shadow or give the effect of color. This creates the illusion of depth on a two dimensional surface
Blending - A technique used to mix smoothly and inseparably together
Value – This element of art refers to the lightness or darkness
Highlight – Small white areas in a drawing or painting that show the surfaces of the subject that reflect the most light. (The opposite of shadows)
